In Conversation with Rosie Green @lifesrosie

Rosie Green has been someone I have admired throughout my own career in beauty. She really is someone I look up to with regards to my own aspirations in writing.

An award winning journalist, Rosie is currently Reds beauty editor-at-large and columnist. Appearing in the pages of Elle, Vogue, The Times and currently the Spa Columnist at The Telegraph - a dream job!

Rosie’s engaging style of writing always keeps me wanting more. Her warm tone and communicative language really resonate with me. Rosie covers so many topics that are of interest to me and she delivers these through expressive language, relatable anecdotes and insightful research and knowledge.



I was elated when Rosie agreed to answer some questions on her beauty and wellness needs. Rosie has Rosacea - a chronic skin condition that affects six million British people. Micro-inflammation can cause the skin to look red and flushed at times and when a flare up occurs can bring with it the sensations of stinging and burning. Red bumps and pimples can commonly appear with the red flashes of colour, leading to lower self esteem and confidence.

As we transition into the Winter season, switching the heating on and exposing our skin to the colder elements, can really impact how our skin looks and feels. Especially if you suffer with specific skin conditions like Rosacea.

Do you like to change up your skincare routine at this time of year and which 3 key ingredients or products do you like to incorporate into your routine to ensure your skin remains balanced, protected and hydrated? Central heating, roaring fires, biting winds - they’re all like Kryptonite for my rosacea prone skin.  It gets red, itchy and inflamed.  The temptation is to load on lots of unctuous creams and balms but dermatologists tell me, that for my type, that’s the worst thing I can do.

Instead, I avoid really hot showers and baths, I am diligent with my prescription creams (Rosex and Soolantra) and I might add in a moisturiser Vichy Toleraine Fluid and hyaluronic acids like SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 and Sarah Chapman Skinesis 3D Moisture Infusion Mask.  The latter cools any inflammation and gives a post facial dewiness.



Professional skin care treatments are my speciality. I appreciate a hands on holistic approach but also think that high tech advanced systems can focus on delivering specific results. What is the best facial treatment you have ever received and why?


I’ve had so many facials over the years and the most amazing have been where I have really connected with the therapist.  A great facial is about so much more than lifting and firming, it can leave you recharged, rejuvenated, reset!  

For me it’s all about the hands and the attitude of the facialist. I have left feeling emotionally lighter and looking 1000x better. My favourite treatments involve lots of massage.


Wellness, mindfulness and rituals are becoming a huge part of the way we experience beauty.

Our stress levels, diets and lifestyles can impact how our largest organ, the skin, will eventually reflect certain skin conditions and concerns i.e. accelerated ageing, acne and eczema/psoriasis.


What measures do you take to ensure you take care of your overall wellbeing?

I think lifestyle is the biggest contributor to how our skin looks, above products even. As a rosacea sufferer I limit red wine, super spicy food and hot temperatures.


I go running with friends maybe four times a week. This really helps me mentally and physically.  In the beginning it was so tough - you know, when you are gasping for air.  Now I feel like I could run for miles.



Sleep deprivation, disrupted sleep and stress can all wreck havoc with our much needed ‘beauty sleep’. How do you enhance a better quality of sleep?


I absolutely love my sleep and I try to get seven hours minimum. I find limiting alcohol really helps with this, plus some physical activity. And respecting my body clock. I like to go to bed early and rise early.


What would be your best beauty advice you could share to enhance self love and self care?


Don’t torture yourself thinking you need every cream/serum/mask - some beauty brands zero in on self dissatisfaction to make you buy their things.  Really think about what works for your skin.  But always wear SPF!
