By Sarah London are excelling in the sourcing of their sustainable skincare ingredients. In a UK skincare first, they have uniquely sourced and used, up-cycled hemp seed oil, which can be found at the heart of their innovative, 92% organic and 100% natural and plant-based blemish recovery oil.

“We rescue the nutrient-rich seeds from going to waste and landfill. We cold press them into the oil we use. This ensures a high quality, natural, sustainable hemp seed oil is produced for our Blemish Recovery Oil.” Sarah of By Sarah London

Up cycled Hemp Seed Oil

What Is Hemp Seed Oil?

Hemp seed oil comes from the small seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant.

Sarah explains; “Our hemp oil contains a standardised level of CBD (cannadibiol) content and the hemp variety we use, Finola, contains the highest level of CBD in the seeds. While hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant, CBD oil is made using the leaves, stalks and flowers which have higher concentrations of CBD.”

The benefits

Grown in the UK, this up-cycled hemp seed oil harnesses a 52% increase in antioxidant properties compared to that of standard hemp seed oil. This oil strengthens the skin and enhances its ability to resist viral, fungal, and bacterial infections.

Hemp seed oil plays a vital role in nourishing, soothing, maintaining and strengthening the skin barrier. It is rich in essential omega fatty acids, especially linoleic acid which has been studied for its key role in providing a healthy skin barrier due to it Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF).

Hemp seed oil is a perfect skin food because it reduces inflammation, hydrates due to its humectant qualities and regulates oil production. It is non-comedogenic so perfect for acne prone skin conditions.

Why I decided to use the Hemp-Infused Blemish Recovery Oil

Salicylic acid is a well known acid that helps to unclog blocked pores by dissolving away dead skin cells and excess sebum and is my usual go to ingredient of choice for tackling pesky hormonal breakouts. However, sometimes with over use it can lead to drying and irritation causing an imbalance to your skin microbiome.

Intrigued to find an alternative that could address my hormonal breakouts, I researched other plant based alternatives.

By Sarah London already forms the basis to my skincare routine with their Green Clay Cleansing Balm and Organic Facial Oil, it seemed a natural progression to add their blemish oil into my morning and evening ritual.

Sarah informs me; “This is a targeted blend of oils to help balance the skins microbiome.”

Since further researching the skins microbiome I was looking for ingredients that would work in harmony and support this intricate community of living organisms on the skins surface. A little ecosystem that plays a vital role in the health of our skin.

This product is a perfect alternative to any acid based products/peels that may compromise the skins barrier function and will help support the microbiome.

Who is the Hemp-Infused Blemish Recovery Oil for?

The combination of plant oils makes this the perfect option for anyone suffering with an inflammatory skin condition. The ingredients harness antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties and have been proven to help a acne-prone, blemished, and congested skin.

My overall experience

The sophisticated texture of this oil blend absorbs effortlessly into the skin with no greasy residue. This lightweight, fragrance free oil instantly soothes and hydrates. It leaves the skin feeling nourished and comforted. There is a noticeable difference in the reduction of swelling and redness around the blemishes upon waking and within a few days the blemishes were diminished. I have also begun to notice that the marks that are usually left from deeper blemishes are minimised. This oil contributes to the support of ongoing skin health and will remain a firm favourite in my plant based skincare ritual.
